3D render

The owners of this master bedroom wanted a full-length mirror without giving up wall space, and a front that felt calmer than one big sheet of glass.

What we built

  • Sliding doors split into three panels each. Two leaves are woodgrain, mirror, woodgrain; the third has a satin glass middle panel that lets a little light through without showing what is behind it.
  • Black frames around every leaf, picking up the black window frames in the room.
  • Soft-close dampers so the doors slow down before they meet the side of the wardrobe.
  • Metal-sided inset drawers (LEGRABOX-style boxes) behind the doors, with fronts set inside the carcass so the sliding leaves pass clear of them.

The mirror panels sit at eye height, which is where they are most useful for dressing. Inside there is long and short hanging, shelves above, and the drawer bank placed where a door can slide fully clear of it.

The design and the build

This is the design we drew for this job. Open it in 3D, turn it around, and start your own from it.

Questions about this project

Why are the drawers set inside the wardrobe?
Inset fronts sit within the carcass, so the sliding doors pass in front of them without catching.
Is satin glass see-through?
No. It lets light through but blurs what is behind it.
Do the doors close quietly?
Yes. Soft-close dampers slow each leaf at the end of its travel.
