Bed surround with overhead cupboards in Weybridge

In this bedroom the only wall long enough for a wardrobe was also the wall the bed had to go against. The answer was to build around the bed.
What we built
- Two tall towers, one either side of the bed, each with hanging space and shelves.
- A bridge of cupboards over the bed, spanning the gap between the towers and sized for a super-king bed with room to sit up comfortably.
- Matching doors across the towers and the bridge, so the whole wall reads as one piece.
The overhead cupboards hold things used a few times a year: spare bedding, winter coats, suitcases. Everyday clothes go in the towers, at a comfortable height.
We set the height of the bridge with the owners standing beside the bed, so nobody bumps their head getting in or out.
