This bedroom wall had to do three jobs: hold the owners' clothes, keep some smaller things tidy, and give them somewhere to sit and get ready. One door style across the whole wall would not have suited all three.

What we built

  • Hinged doors on two sections: a framed satin-glass door over lit display shelves, and a plain door over the hanging at the end.
  • A small pair of inline sliding doors on the hanging section above a drawer bank, so nothing swings out into the space in front of the dressing table.
  • An open section left as a dressing table, with a worktop, a mirror on the back panel and LED lighting above.

Because each section has its own doors (or none), the wall reads as one piece of furniture while every part works for its own purpose. The lighting switches on with the dressing table and gives an even light for make-up.

The design and the build

This is the design we drew for this job. Open it in 3D, turn it around, and start your own from it.

Questions about this project

Can each section really have a different door?
Yes. Each section can have hinged doors, small sliding doors or none.
Does the dressing table need a socket?
The lighting needs a power supply nearby. We check that when we measure.
